In a historic ceremony held on February 2, 2025, the United Methodist Church Shapure Local in Nyanga North, Mutasa-Nyanga district, was officially dedicated. The event was officiated by the Zimbabwe Episcopal Area Resident Bishop, Dr. Eben Kanukayi Nhiwatiwa, and attended by the Mutasa Nyanga District Superintendent, Rev T. Musona, ZEAC Connectional Ministries DIrector Rev S Sign ,pastors within the district, District executive and scores of congregants from all corners of Nyanga.

Bishop Dr. E.K. Nhiwatiwa praised the united Methodist church’s efforts in building sanctuaries, head offices, and other community development projects, expressing confidence that the church will continue to grow even after his retirement. He emphasized the importance of respecting the incoming bishop and ensuring the well-being of pastors.

The Bishop also acknowledged the significant contributions of Chabadza Community Development, a church-based community development program funded by Norway, in assisting the church to build sanctuaries, clinics, bridges, and schools. Chabadza’s goal is to improve living conditions for communities in rural, resettlement, and peri-urban areas.

The Mutasa-Nyanga District Superintendent, Reverend T Musona, thanked Bishop Nhiwatiwa for accepting the invitation to dedicate the sanctuary, despite his impending retirement. She assured him that the district will continue to develop and grow.

Reverend M. Mususa, Director of the Chabadza Community Development Programme, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the construction of the sanctuary, despite facing supply shortages. He praised the community’s support and hospitality during the construction process.
