What’s all about Farefield Children Home?
Fairfield Children’s Home in Old Mutare Mission of the United Methodist Church is a haven for abandoned and vulnerable children in Manicaland, Zimbabwe. Established in 2002, the home provides a loving environment for children to grow and thrive. Unlike traditional orphanages, Fairfield Children’s Home consists of eight separate homes, each housing several children under the care of a mother. This family-inspired model allows every child to experience the support and comfort of a family unit.
The home’s history dates back to 1996 when students from Nebraska Wesleyan University visited the Fairfield Orphanage, located at Old Mutare Mission of the United Methodist Church. Moved by the children’s plight, they founded the Fairfield Orphan Student Association (FOSA) to raise awareness and support for the orphanage. Over time, FOSA evolved into the Fairfield Outreach & Sponsor Association, which continues to support the children’s home.Fairfield Children’s Home provides holistic care, including education, healthcare, and spiritual nurturing. The children attend school at Old Mutare Mission, and the home relies on donations and support from partners like the United Methodist Church .
Today, Fairfield Children’s Home is a beacon of hope for vulnerable children in Zimbabwe, offering them a chance to grow, learn, and thrive in a loving environment.
